About

"bhāgos" is the Proto Indo-European term for beech tree. The Latin family name for beeches and oaks, Fagus, derives from this word. It is also the root of the Proto-Germanic bōkā (beech), and bōks for "book". The connection between "book" and "beech" may be because early Germanic people made inscriptions on beechwood tablets.
